Role Expectations - Producers
Scope
This SOP applies to all projects where a Producer is assigned by or contracted under F7 Studios—including narrative films, branded content, commercials, and documentaries.

Core Responsibilities

Oversee all phases of production from development to delivery

Serve as the bridge between creative vision and logistical execution
-
Hire, manage, and support department heads and crew
-
Track and control the budget and schedule
-
Serve as the point-of-contact between F7 Studios leadership and the production team
Phase 1: Development & Pre-Production

Creative & Strategic Planning
-
Work with the Director and Executive Producer to clarify project scope and goals
-
Finalize script and manage creative notes from stakeholders
-
Assist in developing pitch materials or decks (if needed)
-
Align early vision with practical feasibility
Budgeting & Scheduling
-
Build and approve budget in coordination with Line Producer
-
Approve master schedule, including prep, shoot, and post timelines
-
Identify necessary permits, insurance, union requirements (if applicable)
-
Confirm deliverables with stakeholders or clients
Staffing & Logistics
-
Hire key crew positions (Department Heads, Line Producer, AD, etc.)
-
Oversee casting in conjunction with Director
-
Secure locations, equipment vendors, insurance, payroll service, and legal documents
Deliverables (Pre-Production):

Phase 2: Production

On-Set Operations
-
Serve as the on-site or near-site authority for approvals, problems, or urgent changes
-
Support the Director and 1st AD in keeping the shoot on schedule and within budget
-
Monitor department performance and resource usage
-
Act as the first line of problem-solving for issues in cast, crew, or logistics
Studio & Stakeholder Communication
-
Update Executive Producer or Studio Head on production progress
-
Capture dailies reports, production stills, and behind-the-scenes for marketing use
-
Ensure all incidents are reported and documented properly
Financial Oversight
-
Track daily spending and reconcile with budget via Line Producer or Production Accountant
-
Approve any overages and recommend budget adjustments
-
Verify timecards, payroll, and vendor invoices

Phase 3: Post-Production

Editorial Supervision
-
Schedule edit milestones and check-ins
-
Review rough cuts and provide or relay studio notes

Manage delivery of assets from production to post (media, logs, paperwork)

Ensure Editor and Post Producer are supported with access and information
Marketing & Distribution Prep
-
Coordinate press kits, trailers, and thumbnails if applicable
-
Support festival, streaming, or brand submission requirements
-
Ensure versioning for different aspect ratios or platforms
Final Delivery
-
Confirm that all technical specs are met (audio, color, resolution)
-
Manage upload and QC for final masters and backups
-
Ensure delivery of client or studio-ready versions
-
Wrap insurance, union reports, contracts, and archive materials

Key Collaborative Relationships

1. Studio Head / Executive Producer
Objective: Ensure the production aligns with studio vision, financial discipline, and output standards.
Responsibilities:

Provide transparent updates on budget, progress, and risks
-
Seek sign-off on key creative or financial decisions
-
Deliver reports and production outcomes on deadline
2. Director
Objective: Support the creative vision while ensuring feasibility and schedule discipline.
Responsibilities:
-
Work in lockstep on script prep, shot planning, and creative logistics
-
Translate creative needs into actionable support (locations, crew, time)
-
Keep Director aware of scope, limitations, and budget impacts
3. Line Producer / UPM
Objective: Execute daily operations and track finances in alignment with Producer’s oversight.
Responsibilities:

Approve staffing and vendor decisions
-
Monitor spending and schedule adherence
-
Meet daily to address challenges and reallocate resources
4. Editor / Post Team
Objective: Ensure the editing process supports the story and remains on track for timely delivery.
Responsibilities:
-
Set clear edit deadlines and review cycles
-
Ensure media, timecode, and notes from production are properly delivered
-
Coordinate with post departments (color, sound, VFX, etc.) for alignment
General Expectations & Studio Protocols

Always uphold F7 Studios’ values of professionalism, inclusion, and excellence
-
Maintain calm, clear-headed problem-solving on and off set
-
Keep all departments informed of schedule, changes, and expectations
-
Ensure confidentiality around unreleased projects, budgets, and talent
-
Represent the studio professionally to all external clients, brands, and press
Success Metrics

Production is completed on time and within budget

Director and studio feel supported and creatively aligned

Cast and crew report positive working experience

Deliverables meet platform or client specifications

Marketing assets, if applicable, are delivered cleanly and timely
